How about some butter with your coffee?

Yes, some butter with your coffee! It sounds quite gross and why ruin your delicious cup of java with butter? It seems this trend has become big among those on what is known as the “keto diet” which is a high-fat, low-carb intake diet. The things we do to be healthy and get in shape for summer.

The butter coffee, also known as Bulletproof coffee consists of your favourite coffee (made black) with a tablespoon of unsalted, grass-fed butter and one tablespoon of medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil. Medium-chain tryingly-what?! Medium-chain triglyceride oil is made up of palm oil and coconut oil. Since coconut oil has high amounts of MCT, most users opt for just high-quality coconut oil in their coffee.

The health benefits surrounding the oil craze have to do with weight loss, your metabolism and helping you feel fuller for longer – curbing your appetite.  Some users have even claimed it to be brain food; improving mental clarity and focus.

But how does butter in my coffee help with weight loss?? The healthy fats in the butter slowly fuel you with caffeine, giving you a longer energy boost and keeping you full at the same time!

And what exactly does this butter coffee taste like? When blending the coffee and butter, it’s like drinking a sweet, frothy latte, yummy! It is, however, advised not to look into your mug after sipping away the froth, as you’ll likely be put off by the droplets of fat floating around in your tasty concoction. They are formed by the high speed and allows your body to easily digest them.
